Children Move to Improve Gain knowledge of methods to enhance children’s success in physical activity that promotes learning while bringing fun into the process. This session will provide information about programs that promotes motor coordination, visual motor integration, attention span and endurance at the same time that children’s learn. With these programs children are smiling, laughing, jumping, balancing, and moving around on colorful mats with numbers, and letters while they are enjoining learning and being physically active. The latest brain research has been used in the development of programming. Participants can learn how to develop programs to work with the child as a whole utilizing different learning styles. Information about a study showing that central Florida 3rd graders increased their multiplication scores by 30% will also be presented. Audience will participate in physical activities and meaningful movement that will:

Meaningful ways to achieve 150 min. of physical activity a week for classroom teachers! Find out how one school have children at the SPA (Social, Physical, Academic Development) twice a week. The SPA resulted from a study at the school in which a 3rd grade teacher showed improvement in multiplication scores by 30% with children actively moving to find the correct answers. The purpose of this session is to provide knowledge and curriculum to integrate math with movement activities for school success. Classroom teachers will experience meaningful ways to contribute to physical activity each week, yet continuing to positively impact the learning of academics.

The participants will
- experience movement activities that will have a positive impact on learning academic concepts such as number awareness, and math as well as colors, alphabet, spelling, NSEW, and vocabulary
- discuss research that indicates the need and importance for physical activity to enhance brain functioning
- experience methods to develop the whole child utilizing different learning & teaching styles
- experience the use of desk mats and classroom activities and discuss how to transition to using large gross motor movements for physical activity
- discuss how exceptional learners can benefit form active learning
- experience methods to integrate academics in a fun learning environment leading to personal success
This will be an active session where participants will experience first hand, activities that integrate academics, physical activity, and music in a fun learning environment. Some lessons include activities such as Body Balance Boogie and Go on a Safari While Multiplying.
